wether we are replanting existing flower beds or creating a new garden from scratch the design process is given the same thought and attention. However, the design process can take a few days to a few weeks depending on the complexity of the desired garden.
I will come to you for an initial viewing of the space and to find out what kind of garden you imagine owning. I spend time in the space, make sketches, take photographs and draw an initial desin in flour on the ground so we can walk around the space and make changes and adaptations as we go along. Once this stage is complete i redraw the design in white sand and make further sketches to work from for the more detailed areas of the garden. Clients are consulted and |

BEDS & BORDERS
This is my favourite part of designing a new garden, the shapes and flow of the beds and finally the selection and positioning of plants. In my opinion you cant beat a traditional English Cottage Garden for the ultimate mix of plants and free flowing structure. My designs preferably allow space and freedom to the plants, letting the seed and plants mix with time, creating a gently dramatic show of colour. Many of the seeds I use have been collected from the wild throughout Europe on my travels and I am more than happy to swap and share them with my clients.
TURF SOFA'S
When digging a new garden from a lawn it is often difficult to know what to do with the resulting strips of waste turf. I solve this problem by building life sized sofa, seats, benches and walls!

Each piece is planted with seasonal bulbs so that with each passing season it changes color and form. It is of course possible to buy the turf separately, do let me know if you have a specific design in mind.

TRADITIONAL STONE PATHS AND COBBLESThe pictures here are from a farm I have recently helped convert back to a traditional country garden. The awful crazy-paving was taken away and an ancient looking sandstone path was painstakingly lain. For added detail around the door i used the old roof tiles i had dug up to create a sun-shine mosaic design (picture on the left) With careful Moss and Fern planting along the edges the end result appears to be the original 10th century path to match the ancient farm house. This particular project used only recycled stones from the surrounding fields which meant each stone had to be individually placed in its own hole to allow for an even surface when finished, although time consuming, the effect is magic!
