Meditation & Biodanza
Off-Grid Nature Retreat 2016
This week long retreat is not only set in one of the most beautiful parts of Italy but one of the most spiritually charged areas I have been to in this wonderful country. If you are looking for four poster beds, maids in white uniforms and en-suite bathrooms please remove your self from this site immediately. However, If you are looking for a genuine Off-Grid experience then quickly read on.
I found this magical place in May 2015 whilst volunteering for George, the owner of Castelino off-grid retreat. The far reaching views, utter isolation, wildlife and fantastic warmth of my host left me speechless and I was determined that this place would be the venue for my 2016 spring Meditation & Biodanza retreat.
THE RETREAT: In this one week retreat we will allow the wilderness of Northern Tuscany to work its magic on our minds and bodies. The retreat will be loosely based on the seven energy centres as a way of focusing our energies and we will be contemplating, meditating and dancing through their corresponding attributes which are:
For those of you who have never experienced Biodanza before, Biodanza is a comprehensive system of personal development and human integration created by Professor Rolando Toro in South America in the 1960s. Literally translated as 'The Dance of Life', Biodanza offers a beautifully person-centred approach to exploring our relationship to some of the fundamental aspect of our shared humanity as experienced through the lens of our unique individuality. Though a series of guided sessions or 'vivencias', we shall dive deeply into the themes of this incredible retreat, rediscovering a simple yet profound pathway directly to the heart of this human experience. No dance experience is needed in any way to enjoy these sessions, there is no wrong or right way to move...only genuine spontaneous movement from the heart.
THE LOCATION: The house is reached by an old stone road only accessible on foot or by 4WD. Casalino lies within the Foreste Casentinese National Park - one of the biggest area of uninterrupted forest in Europe - and thanks to this the original fauna is reclaiming it's place. With porcupines, wild boar, roe and fallow deer and even wolves rambling the landscape, it´s easy to feel as though we are the intruders.
The many footpaths leading through the Park make it easy and pleasurable to explore the lush environment.
The Sanctuary of St.Francis of Assisi - La Verna - is just 1.5 hours walk from Casalino through an age old beach forest known as the enchanted forest. Also, Michelangelo's birthplace (Caprese Michelangelo) is just 25km away. This is an area rich in culture and spiritual importance.
Being so deep in the wilderness away from civilisation Casalino very much creates a feeling of retreat from day to day life. It's the perfect setting to immerse yourself in nature, unplug from your daily life, and reconnect with yourself.
TO DO: Apart from daily meditation & Biodanza there will be plenty of free time to explore, swim, read and generally bliss-out. We will be making the most of the National Park with:
DAY TRIPS ; such as St Frances monastery, an abandoned hilltop village and a magical sacred forest.
The accommodation is either in the main house ( sharing four to a room ) or in tents and Tipis around the house. This is done on a first come first serve basis. There are solar showers in the grounds which are blissful, as well as a main bathroom in the house and compost toilets outside. All electricity is solar powered so it is possible to charge small devices (phones, ipads) during the day.
Hunter Delves; I have been working as a holistic events coordinator Coach and holistic therapist for over ten years in the Uk, France, Holland and Italy. I tend to teach Buddhist meditation and practices with a modern twist and to create events that combine as many different techniques as possible.
George: George has been running Caselino mountain retreat for over ten years and provides a rustic, warm and generous welcome to all of his guests. His centre hosts amazing events throughout the summer, do check out his website at: www.wildtuscany.org
Mila Burgin: Mila is "the man" when it comes to hosting Biodanza vevencias. His energetic and disarming approach helps make his classes memorable. I met Mila three years ago at a class in Chichester west sussex and have collaborated with him to create several fantastic events in the Uk. So excited to be working with him on this summer retreat.
